A simplicity in the music, which somehow encapsulates every emotion under the sun. Amazing.
Favorite track: A Good Land, An Excellent Land.

I would go so far as to say the whole album is haunting ... certainly in the way that it stays with you long after it has stopped playing.

Written and recorded over the last twelve months, 'A Good Land, An Excellent Land' began life as a collection of short piano melodies which gradually developed into fully fledged pieces incorporating string parts and guitar soundscapes. Evolving the sound established in the EP 'What We Dream Of...' released earlier this year, 'A Good Land...' is the Joel's debut album; in some ways auto-biographical, it describes the notion of laying hold of and realising hearts desires, of finding 'home' both geographically and spiritually, and all the emotions that come with this, high & low.
The thick humming resonance of the cello is used to subtly lead and describe the mood of some of the pieces whilst many an hour was spent trying to create the right guitar sound, involving late-night rewiring of amps and fiddling with pedals until the sound fitted. This restless, uncompromising approach has lead Joel to craft a wonderfully intimate and rich depth of sound; the result is a stunning debut album, coherent in its structure and tone, disarming in its beauty.

Tiny Leaves is the music of Joel Nathaniel Pike. He has developed his sound as a solo artist alongside years of writing and
performing in bands. He describes his music as being rooted in narrative, but is often surprised at the undefinable end result. His music has a delicate, cinematic quality that brings a quiet hope....more
It is simply amazing from start to finish, a wonderful seamless stream of folk come modern-classical narrative from a very accomplished musician. Tiny Leaves

This album is awesome. It's a masterpiece in ambience and modern-composition music with so many moments of raw beauty, discovered on BBCr3's Unclassified series (Elizabeth Alker). Tiny Leaves
